HP & UHP Water Jetting & Cleaning Services

Hemera Projects delivers high-pressure (HP) and ultra-high-pressure (UHP) water jetting and cleaning across South Africa and Zambia. Our crews work for major industrial operators in pulp & paper, steel and metals, packaging and FMCG, petrochem and refineries, and copper mining — applying the right pressure, the right nozzle, and the right approach to remove deposits, scale, coatings and contamination without damaging the underlying substrate.

Water jetting is the cornerstone of any modern surface preparation programme. Done correctly it is faster, safer, more environmentally responsible, and more cost-effective than abrasive blasting or chemical cleaning — and it is often the only acceptable method on tight industrial timelines or in environments where abrasive media is prohibited.

What we offer

High Pressure Cleaning (HP):
Optimised for cleaning tanks, structural steel, plant floors, vessels and equipment with light to moderate scale, soft deposits, loose coatings or general process build-up. HP is most often the first stage of our corrosion protection workflow — it strips the surface back so coatings, linings or thermal spray can be applied to a sound base.

Ultra-High-Pressure Cleaning (UHP):
Where deposits are hard, bonded or thick, and where surface preparation must meet specific standards (e.g. SSPC-SP WJ-2 or NACE No.5/SSPC-SP12), UHP is the right tool. Hemera’s UHP fleet handles tube bundles, heat exchangers, condensers, fired-heater internals, leach tanks, smelter components, mill scale removal, hydrodemolition of failed concrete, and full coating removal back to bright metal where the spec demands it.

Applications across industries

  • Pulp & paper: recovery boiler tubes, digester cleaning, evaporator and heat exchanger bundles, bleach plant equipment, screen and washer cleaning.
  • Steel and metals: mill scale removal, blast furnace tap-hole and runner cleaning, coke oven cleaning, heat exchanger and BOS (basic oxygen steelmaking) component cleaning.
  • Petrochem and refineries: shell-and-tube heat exchanger bundles, fired-heater tubes, tower internals, drum and reactor cleaning, hydrodemolition of refractory.
  • Packaging and FMCG: brewery tanks, food-grade vessel cleaning, line CIP support, packaging line equipment cleaning.
  • Copper mining and smelting: leach tanks, concentrator equipment, smelter and converter components, heat exchangers on acid plants, process plant cleaning.
  • Cement, sugar and agri-processing: kiln pre-heater and cooler cleaning, sugar mill evaporator cleaning, agri-processing tank and silo cleaning.

Geographic coverage

Hemera Projects is based in Henley on Klip in the Vaal Triangle and operates across South Africa — covering Gauteng, Mpumalanga, KZN, the Eastern and Western Cape, and the North West. We have an established team in Zambia working on the Copperbelt, with mobilisation capability into Solwezi, Lusaka, Ndola and Mazabuka. Long-distance shutdown work is part of how we operate; equipment, supervision and crew can be on site in days, not weeks.

Geographic capability includes: Gauteng, Vaal Triangle, Mpumalanga (Highveld and Lowveld), KwaZulu-Natal mills and ports, Eastern and Western Cape industrial sites, and across the Zambian Copperbelt, North-Western, and Lusaka provinces.

Equipment, safety and crew

Our HP and UHP fleet is built and maintained to industrial-grade safety standards. Pumps, lances, automated tooling and all ancillary equipment are inspected and recorded according to the requirements of the major industrial operators we work for. Technicians are trained and certified for HP/UHP operations, and every site mobilisation includes documented risk assessments, lock-out/tag-out planning, and HSE compliance to client site requirements.

Whether the job is a single tube bundle on a planned shutdown, a multi-week mill scale removal contract, or an emergency response on a process plant, the team behind the equipment is the differentiator. Hemera’s technicians have years of accumulated experience across the toughest cleaning environments in southern Africa.

Safety, compliance and turnaround discipline

Safety is non-negotiable on every Hemera site. Our HP and UHP equipment is operated under documented procedures, with full PPE for every technician, lock-out/tag-out enforced on every isolation, and exclusion zones marked and managed. We work to the HSE expectations of operators including SAPPI, ArcelorMittal, Sasol, Engen, Nampak and the major mining houses on the Zambian Copperbelt — and we adapt to client-specific HSE plans without compromise.

Hemera Projects’ HP and UHP water jetting service combines technical capability, fleet readiness, and crew experience to deliver results that hold up under scrutiny. Whether the requirement is surface preparation before coating, heat exchanger bundle cleaning during a planned shutdown, tank cleaning on a tight turnaround, hydrodemolition of failed concrete, or full coating removal back to bright metal — Hemera’s equipment and skilled workforce are positioned to deliver.

Experience that protects the schedule
Industrial cleaning lives or dies on shutdown timing. A delayed bundle cleaning is a delayed start-up — and the cost of that delay sits squarely with whoever owns the cleaning contract. Hemera’s project teams have run cleaning scopes inside complex, tightly scheduled turnarounds for years. Our supervisors plan, sequence, and protect the cleaning window so the job ships on time.

Why operators choose Hemera

  • Documented HSE record across SAPPI, ArcelorMittal, Sasol, Nampak and major Copperbelt mining sites.
  • HP and UHP fleet sized for industrial duty, with backup pump and tooling capability.
  • Trained and certified technicians — not casual labour.
  • Long-distance and cross-border mobilisation experience, including established Zambia ops.
  • Cleaning supplied as a stand-alone service or integrated with our acid lining, pipeline fabrication, insulation, and coating services.
